About

What is a Humanist Celebrant?

People celebrate things – and celebrants make those moments extra, extra special.

Humanist celebrants provide an alternative to religious ceremonies. We write ceremonies and serve as officiants for unique, meaningful, non-religious weddings and other ceremonies for important moments of life.

In addition to officiating, we can deliver Humanist invocations and readings, provide Humanist consultation & guidance, and other services.

A Humanist Celebrant will serve people of all religious, secular, and spiritual identities; however, we will only use secular language. We can help you incorporate religious elements into your ceremony through, for example, guest readings or music.

The Humanist Society Logo

Celebrants endorsed through The Humanist Society are legally recognized as clergy in the United States, being accorded the same rights and privileges granted by law to priests, ministers, and rabbis of traditional theistic religions.

We provide an alternative to traditional religious ceremonies and provide guidance on inclusive practices that honor, affirm, and celebrate diverse Religious, Secular, and Spiritual Identities (RSSI) as well as the LGBTQ+ community.

Services include

  • officiant for weddings, funerals, namings/welcomings, and other ceremonies,
  • invocations for meetings and events
  • writing services (custom ceremonies, invocations/secular graces, obituaries/eulogies)
  • event management services (volunteer weddings, tiny weddings, and volunteer activities for groups/businesses)
  • Consultations and workshops regarding inclusion for Humanists and other diverse identities.
