FAQ

Here are answers to some common questions about weddings. Costs of individual items can be found on the Price List page.

Are you available for same-day appointments?

If there’s an opening in my calendar, we can make it happen. Give me a call & let’s see if there’s a time that will work.

Sometimes people are inspired spontaneously to have a couple-only or very small ceremony, or sometimes another officiant has a health or other emergency and can’t make your planned ceremony. If i can help, i will.

Do you help with wedding planning?

For Tiny Weddings / minimonies / intimate ceremonies, I can provide wedding planning services. This would include, in addition to the ceremony composition and choreography of the ceremony, other coordination needed to ensure your wedding day is perfect.

For Volunteer Weddings or as an added vendor for your Wedding Weekend Experience, I can coordinate a service project that complements your activities and reflects your values as a couple.

Although i have 20 years of event management experience, I usually don’t do wedding planning for larger, multi-vendor weddings.

Are you just a notary?

I am a Humanist Celebrant. A Humanist Celebrant is generally recognized in all 50 states, being accorded the same privileges and responsibilities – including the authority to solemnize a marriage – as any priest, rabbi, imam, or other religious leader.

We have a traditional officiant. Can you just do a Humanist Invocation at our ceremony or rehearsal dinner?

Absolutely. Some couples choose a religious officiant but would like a Humanist Celebrant to deliver an inclusive invocation or reading to honor the perspective diversity of their family and friends. I can write something specifically for you or suggest appropriate Humanist readings.

Do you have pre-written ceremonies?

Yes, I provide several different options for couples to review which we then customize for you. You can choose one that you love, mix & match elements, make changes, and add your vows, rituals, or other personal touches. Your ceremony can be very simple or can tell the story of your journey together and be something that you and your guests will remember and treasure. I help with all of that.

We want to travel to Orlando to get married; can we do remote planning with you?

Absolutely! Orlando is a popular destination spot for weddings – if you’re planning to come here to have your ceremony, we can use email, phone, and video chat to write & plan your ceremony.

If it’s a small wedding and you need help with coordinating details (venue, etc.) here in Orlando I can provide some wedding planning services for you.

We are non-traditional, will you still marry us?

If you are legally able to marry, i would be honored to serve as your Celebrant. I’m an affirming provider and a diversity-fluent professional. You can safely and comfortably share your identity with me and we will talk about any special ceremony readings, rituals, or traditions that you would like to be included in your wedding.

Sometimes this means minority religious perspectives. As a Humanist Celebrant, i can only use secular language, but if you would like religious elements, we can creatively include them through guest participation in the ceremony.
